Competition for Reggio Calabria

The International Competition for Ideas to Develop the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria in the Cultural and Territorial Context of the City is being promoted by the Minister for Territorial Cohesion - Office of the President of the Council of Ministers, Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, Calabria Regional Department, Region of Calabria and Municipality of Reggio Calabria.

CIPE (the Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning), in its resolution no. 39 of 23 March 2012, has expressed the need for the completion of the restoration and renovation of the Museum to be accompanied by a local development initiative aimed at exploiting the Museum's potential.

The competition is intended to seek out ideas regarding the city, aimed at enhancing the intrinsic attractiveness of the Museum and the city's other cultural resources in order to promote the development of the demand for tourism, including at an international level, as well as to launch entrepreneurial initiatives linked to the tourism and culture sector.
The competition thus does not refer directly to the Museum - which, additionally, has undergone an extensive restoration, rationalisation and renovation programme that has now been brought to the final stage - but rather all that which may be considered functional and complementary to exploiting the function of attraction and value, including at an international level, that it, along with the other local positive factors, may perform for the city and beyond.
The Competition closed on March 28, 2013.
From March 29 to July 2, 2013 was active online voting. On July 3, 2013 the Evaluation Committee appointed the winning ideas.
