Competition for Pompeii

The International Ideas Competition for the Development of the Pompeii Area is being promoted by Minister for Territorial Cohesion - Office of the President of the Council of Ministers, Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Affairs and Municipality of Pompeii.

The Competition seeks to solicit ideas aimed at developing the attractions present in the area, innovating and improving the local economy and enhancing the tourism and culture sector, with the aim of rendering the city more attractive, welcoming and liveable.

Ideas are to seek, inter alia, to foster possible synergies between the area's two major attractions, the Archaeological Area and the Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary, including by identifying other places, factors and assets of local attraction. Focusing the attention on the city also stimulates the local community to participate in the development of innovative and concrete processes.

The Ideas Competition is open to all interested parties, such as professionals, academics, stakeholders, etc., acting individually or in associated form, whether originating in Italy or abroad.

The Competition for Pompeii closed on April 15, 2013.
From April 16 to July 28, 2013 was active online voting. On July 29, 2013 the Evaluation Committee appointed the winning ideas.
